4:54

Listen2theCall 4:53 premiered worldwide on Tuesday February 23 at 4:53pm in honour of the victims and survivors of the earthquake in Haiti six weeks before.

The special 4:53 minute acoustic mix of the song was played simultaneously at 4:53pm on stations across Jamaica including TVJ, RJR, FAME FM, HITZ, HYPE TV, KOOL, CVM, HOT 102, IRIE FM, ZIP 103, KLAS FM, MEGA JAMZ, NEWSTALK 93, ROOTS FM, CTV and PBCJ.

Overseas media participation included stations around the world such as Sirius Satellite Radio, SAfm (South Africa), IRIE JAM 103.5 (NY), Indie 101.3 (LA), La Radio (France), Rhythm 93fm (Trinidad), 100Jamz (Bahamas),  VIBZ FM (Cayman), 105.5 FM (St. Marteen) and 123 Video (Netherlands).

The 4:53 premiere reception was hosted in Kingston at the Terra Nova Hotel where artistes and the L2TC team gathered to hear the world premiere of their labour of love. Artistes and musicians who attended included Toots, Alaine, Pam Hall, Chevelle Franklyn, Suzanne Couch, Mutabaruka, Jenieve Bailey, Brian Gold, Chinna Smith  Robbie Lyn and Carlene Davis (who was celebrating her birthday).

Guests in attendance at the event included Jamaica’s former Prime Minister PJ Patterson, Senator Mark Golding, JFM President Desi Young, Haiti Jamaica Society President Myrtha Désulmé, producer Clive Hunt, Tommy Cowan, Colin Leslie, CVM's David McBean and film maker Stephanie Black.

At 4:53pm producer Handel Tucker introduced Listen2theCall 4:53 mix and the music video of the making of the song to the audience. The song was received with resounding applause and many requests to "play it again".

Songwriter Raymond Azan thanked all the artistes and musicians who responded positively to the call while acknowledging the invaluable contribution of Tucker, project manager Andrea Davis, Creative Director SiiM and the Higher Intelligence Agency and the L2TC production team for their creativity and hard work in realizing the launch objective given the magnitude of the project and the shortness of time.

Andrea Davis’ parting remarks challenged the gathering to Listen, and hold tightly to the empathy generated by the newscasts and to the sentiments expressed in this and the many other songs being sung for those who are hurt, lost and suffering. For Haiti, 4:53 was but a moment, whereas the decades of work required to rebuild their nation started at 4:54. Andrea challenged the gathering to Listen and remember that we cannot only say we will help, we must follow through. Listen2theCall is a way for everyone to help Haiti now, and help them in the years to come through the purchase of the gift of music – a small contribution that can be made over and over. “Yes, we know you can burn, but we are asking you to buy.”
