Monday and Tuesday were spent in The Mixing Lab and Tuff Gong respectively, as Handel the “architect” worked at proving to us that he could organize and fit the sounds of 25 voices into 4½ minutes. Backup vocals were also recorded at The Mixing Lab to anchor a few of the lines over which the artistes had done ad libs.
Anyone listening to the compilation of voices currently on the track would have to admit that this mix is no easy task.
But…In Handel we will trust!
The Tuesday night session ended at 8:30 pm and by Wednesday, Handel was on the first flight to Florida to meet with FOR JAMAICA's Raymond Azan before heading to New York to begin the first mix of "Listen 2 the Call". All did not go according to plan as a massive snow-storm forced all NYC airports to close leaving Handel stranded in Miami until Thursday.
Handel arrived at Premier Digital Studio in NY on Thursday evening ready to work to deliver a mix in time for the global premiere scheduled for Tuesday February 23, 2010 at 4:53pm. That date and time has been chosen to mark the 6 week anniversary of the 7.0 earthquake that hit Haiti, to honour the victims and encourage the survivors.
According to Handel it’s all about 4:53.
